FAQ

Reason for being

Aniello Atelier jewelry is made in the countryside, in our workshop in Sainte-Ursule, each creation lets the material express itself and tell us stories where time and the work of the hand are king.

We offer artisanal jewelry that celebrates raw and refined shapes.

Each piece contains the trace of a creative encounter with a people, an architecture, a craft. An object like an invitation to travel towards others and elsewhere. The stranger then becomes familiar and the jewel like a second skin when worn close to the heart, in the hollow of the ear or on the tips of the fingers. A showcase of stories and memories to be passed down between generations.

Values

Aniello Atelier embodies artisanal and human jewelry. Since its founding in Sainte-Ursule, the workshop has taken care to forge links with suppliers from neighboring villages, creating a strong local community.

Working with a raw material that is certainly recyclable, but energy-intensive, Aniello Atelier takes care to limit waste by honoring each scrap, which is remelted and used to sculpt new pieces.

Reused endlessly, metal carries the memory of past creations and embodies the idea - dear to the heart of the workshop - of transmitting the material from one collection to another, and from one generation to the next. .

The materials

925 silver

925 silver or sterling silver is an alloy made of fine silver and copper composed of 925 parts of fine silver and 75 parts of copper. 925 silver is a material that oxidizes and tarnishes over time when not worn or properly cared for. Carefully read the “How to care for your jewelry” section. » so you know how to properly care for your jewelry.

Oxidized silver

Oxidized silver is identical to 925 silver in its composition, but it has undergone a surface treatment. Following its manufacturing and finishing, the jewelry is dipped in a sulfur oxide solution to blacken it. Since silver is only oxidized on the surface, it is more susceptible to friction and scratches. Over time, your jewelry made from oxidized silver will develop a patina, shine and fade slightly. It could therefore lose its oxidized finish in places, particularly on flat surfaces and edges. The jewel will then take on a new color, a new identity specific to the person who wears it.

Brass

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. There are different types of brass, but the one used in jewelry is made up of 95% copper and 5% zinc. Some people react to contact with brass and may have green marks where the jewelry has been in prolonged contact with the skin. Rest assured, all earring posts and hooks are made of 925 silver.

The pearls

The pearls that I use are carefully chosen one by one by a Quebec gemologist, a pearl specialist. These natural pearls, which are grown in fresh or salt water, come from China, Tahiti, Japan and the South Seas. Know that pearls are the only type of gem that is 100% renewable.

How to maintain your jewelry?

Corrosive products, especially chlorine, bleach, makeup and perfume can damage your jewelry. To keep them in their original condition, remove them to shower, play sports or do the dishes. It's also best to put on makeup and perfume before putting them on. Avoid wearing your jewelry to the beach, pool or spa so that it does not come into contact with sand, chlorine or lithium.

How to clean your jewelry?

925 silver and brass

To clean your jewelry, soak it for a few minutes in warm water and dish soap, then scrub gently with your fingers or a soft-bristled toothbrush. Avoid using tooth paste since it contains a slight abrasive which could affect the shine of your jewelry. You can also gently rub your jewelry with the small polishing cloth provided at the time of purchase to restore its shine. little touch of shine.

Oxidized silver

Since oxidation is a surface treatment, these jewelry pieces are more susceptible to scratches and friction. To keep their original appearance, avoid rubbing your oxidized jewelry with a toothbrush or polishing cloth. You can simply soak them in warm water and dish soap for a few minutes and gently scrub them with your fingers, then rinse them and let them air dry.

How to store your jewelry?

If you do not wear your jewelry daily, it is better to store them in a small plastic bag to avoid tarnishing due to ambient air. In addition, you should avoid leaving them near a faucet, as humidity or sulphurous water in your home could cause your jewelry to tarnish prematurely.
