FAQ

Rationale

jewellery Aniello Atelier is made in the countryside, in our workshop in Sainte-Ursule. Each creation allows the material to express itself and tell us stories where time and the work of the hand are king.

We offer handcrafted jewelry that celebrates both raw and refined forms.

Each piece contains the trace of a creative encounter with a people, an architecture, a craft. An object that is an invitation to travel to the other and beyond. The stranger becomes familiar, and the jewel like a second skin when worn close to the heart, in the hollow of the ear or on the fingertips. A jewel box of stories and memories to be passed down from generation to generation.

Values

Aniello Atelier embodies artisanal and human jewellery. Since its foundation in Sainte-Ursule, the workshop has taken care to establish links with suppliers in the neighbouring villages, creating a strong local community.

Working with a raw material that is certainly recyclable, but energy-consuming, Aniello Atelier takes care to limit waste by honouring each scrap, which is remelted and used to sculpt new pieces.

Endlessly reused, the metal carries the memory of past creations and embodies the idea - dear to the heart of the workshop - of passing on the material from one collection to the next, and from one generation to the next.

The materials

925 silver

925 silver or sterling silver is an alloy of fine silver and copper consisting of 925 parts of fine silver and 75 parts of copper. 925 silver is a material that oxidizes and tarnishes over time when not worn or well maintained. Read carefully the section "How do you care for your jewelry? "section to learn how to properly care for your jewelry.

Oxidized silver

Oxidized silver is identical to 925 silver in its composition, but it has undergone a surface treatment. Following its manufacture and finishing, the jewel is soaked in a sulphur oxide solution to blacken it. Since silver is oxidized on the surface only, it is more sensitive to friction and scratches. Over time, your oxidized silver jewellery will become patinated, shiny and slightly pale. It could therefore lose its oxidized finish in places, especially on flat surfaces and edges. The jewel will then take on a new hue, a new identity for the person wearing it.

Brass

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. There are different types of brass, but the one used in jewellery is made of 95% copper and 5% zinc. Some people react to contact with brass and may have green streaks where the jewellery has been in prolonged contact with the skin. Rest assured, all studs and earring hooks are made of 925 silver.

Pearls

The pearls I use are carefully chosen one by one by a Quebec gemologist, a pearl specialist. These natural pearls, which are grown in fresh or salt water, come from China, Tahiti, Japan and the South Seas. Be aware that pearls are the only type of gem that is 100% renewable.

How to take care of your jewelry?

Corrosive products, especially chlorine, bleach, make-up and perfume can damage your jewellery. To keep them in their original condition, remove them when you shower, play sports or wash dishes. It is also best to apply make-up and perfume before putting them on. Avoid wearing your jewellery on the beach, at the pool or spa so that it does not come into contact with sand, chlorine or lithium.

How do you clean your jewelry?

Silver 925 and brass

To clean your jewellery, soak it for a few minutes in warm water and dish soap, then gently rub it with your fingers or a soft bristle toothbrush. Avoid using toothpaste because it contains a slight abrasive that could affect the shine of your jewelry, or you can gently rub your jewelry with the small polishing cloth provided with your purchase to give it a little extra shine.

Oxidized silver

Since oxidation is a surface treatment, these jewels are more sensitive to scratches and rubbing. To keep their original appearance, avoid rubbing your oxidized jewellery with a toothbrush or polishing cloth. You can simply soak them in warm water and dish soap for a few minutes and gently rub them with your fingers, then rinse and let them air dry.

How do you store your jewelry?

If you don't wear your jewellery daily, it is best to store it in a small plastic bag to avoid tarnishing due to the ambient air. In addition, you should avoid leaving them near a faucet, since humidity or sulphurous water in your home could cause your jewellery to tarnish prematurely.
